For Traditional Prepayment Meters

Follow these steps to quickly top up your traditional electricity or gas meter using your existing key or card.

Every traditional prepayment meter uses a unique key or card for topping up. This physically holds your meter details. Ensure you have it readily available before starting the top-up process. If you can't find it, please contact your energy supplier directly to request a replacement.

Electricity and gas prepayment top-up keys and cards

Navigate to our secure online top-up portal. You will be prompted to enter the unique long number found on your electricity top-up card or gas top-up key. This number allows us to identify your meter correctly and process your payment.

For electricity cards, this is usually a 19-digit number. For gas keys, it may be a shorter, unique identifier.

We accept a wide range of secure payment methods, including major credit and debit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro. Your transaction is protected with industry-standard encryption, ensuring your financial details are safe.

Once your payment is successful, you will receive a unique reference number (UTRN) or a top-up code via email and/or SMS. This code needs to be manually entered into your prepayment meter. Follow your meter's instructions for entering the code to load the credit onto your account.

Keep this code safe until you've entered it into your meter.

For Smart Meters: Effortless Online Top-Ups

Smart meters allow for a much simpler top-up process, with credit sent directly to your meter within minutes. No codes, no hassle!

Step 1: Log in to Your Account

Securely access your PowerPay Solutions account dashboard.

Step 2: Select Your Meter

Choose the electricity or gas meter you wish to top up from your dashboard.

Step 3: Choose Top-Up Amount

Enter the desired top-up amount. Minimum top-up limits may apply.

Step 4: Confirm & Send

Confirm your payment, and credit will be sent directly to your smart meter!
